Founder’s Welcome

Thank you for your interest in The Country Day School in Huntsville, Alabama. As you familiarize yourself with the information about our school, we hope that you will begin to sense the school’s unique qualities – respect for each child and his or her individual potential, a caring and diverse school community, and an unending quest for educational excellence in a child/family friendly atmosphere.

The Country Day School prides itself on being an inclusive community of learners from our ever-joyful Preschoolers through our thoughtful, poised eighth graders. Our students share a sense of excitement in their quest for knowledge. They also understand that learning can happen outside the classroom walls, and our natural park-like campus supports a respect for and love of nature.

A school is inevitably shaped by the expectations that surround it and by its history and traditions. Our founders imagined a school that would be academically challenging, yet warm and welcoming; a place that would prepare students for the most competitive secondary schools, yet would also prepare them for their responsibilities to their families and neighbors, as well as to the wider global community.

A Country Day education is an endowment. It is a gift that parents and grandparents give to children to prepare them for the challenges of their future. The faculty strives to help students become self-motivated problem-solvers who are intellectually curious and reflective. Our students develop the confidence and courage to help them assume their proper roles in building a better world.

We hope that you will review this material carefully and consider the role our school can play in the life of your child and family. We look forward to working closely with you, in partnership, to help your child develop to his or her fullest potential.
